Twitter Explodes With News of Kicks' Latest Win

By Libby Johnson, Guest Blogger

MERIDIAN, Idaho - Fans across the land watched their timelines in angst as Just 4 Kicks took over the twitter headlines on Sunday at the Idaho Soccer Center. #Tebow who?

An interesting lineup challenged the Kicks with Mike (@mwalsh88) and Casey (@cj1789) both vacationing. Steve Lucas (who brought two fans with him, this is a Kicks attendance record) and Evan Sprengel stepped in and started the game. Steve and Libby (@libberachi) held it down in the back, Team Perretta (@vinnyperretta19 and @JPerretta) controlled the middle while feeding Team Sprengel (Even and Tara) up top.

It took a jump start about halfway through the first half as one of the Kicks'
originals, Beck, subbed in a put two goals up on the board quickly. Shortly after goal number two, confusion and subbing got the best of the Kicks when REI notched a goal with nine minutes to play in the first. Evan earned his keep at the 6:45 mark with a goal to lead Kicks into half time up 3-1.

Thomas Dutcher (@ThomasDutcher) quickly put up his first goal of the night 30 seconds into the second half. With Kelly (@kellsk) out with a golfer's injury aka quad pull, girls were down one sub. Thankfully the newest member of the squad, Randi Baker (@Randeezi5), was there to step in and distribute. Thomas and Randi's midfield pressure led to another goal from Thomas, making it 5-1. More pressure and on-point passing from Steve allowed Evan to stutter-step his way to his second goal of the night, as he maxed out his scoring to join Thomas and Beck with two goals a piece.

Attempting a comeback surge, REI's keeper decided to get crafty and crept his way up the field, somehow dribbling past everyone and serving his choice of four different forwards. A guy in blue got his moment of glory as he snuck one past Jeanne, who is a God damn rockstar, making the score 6-2.

Jeanne was diving all over the place, using her feet outside the "box" and just being overall badass per usual. She may or may not have a concussion right now due to slamming the back of her head up against the wall, but still abiding by her husband's request to not come home with "oozing ass cheeks", so well done, Keep.

Just 4 Kicks finished strong, as Ike won a foot race against the nimble-ass keeper (the Man in Black) and netted his first goal of the night in the last few minutes. Up 7-2, the buzzer buzzed and Kicks swagged off the pitch with their heads held high. The undefeated Just 4 Kicks (5-0) regroup next Sunday, Jan. 15, at 4 p.m. (MT) against The Minions.

Notes:
...A new referee today. For sure had the best control of the game we've seen this season. Worth noting that "Big Ref" took the field after our game (to play, not ref, I think) and also bro-hugged it out with Vin upon our departure.

...Please excuse the overall shock factor of this writing as our usual Sports Information Director, Michael Walsh, is out of town like I said so deal with it.

...The Broncos beat the Steelers in OT.
